Namaste, dear friends!
I am back from a 40 days trip in Nepal which realized two of my dreams – practice yoga and hike in the Himalayas. Lovely start of 2018!
Returned as a certified yoga teacher
I was following Nepal Yoga Academy for almost 3 years but I had no time to go there and study yoga. But in the end of 2017 I decided to make the leap, booked my tickets and arrived in Kathmandu aka Dustmandu (it’s the most polluted city I’ve been ever).
I loved the place of the academy from the first sight – very sunny with beautiful views.
I loved the teachers – from Nepal, Italy, Australia.
I loved the course – 27 days, 12 hours a day practice and theory, 24 hours a day joy!
The daily schedule:
6:30 | 7:45 | Satkarma, Chanting and Pranayama |
7:45 | 8:00 | Tea break |
8:00 | 9:30 | Asan practice |
9:30 | 10:30 | Breakfast |
10:30 | 13:00 | Lecture |
13:00 | 14:00 | Lunch |
14:00 | 15:00 | Self study |
15:00 | 16:45 | Workshop |
16:45 | 17:00 | Tea break |
17:00 | 18:30 | Asan/meditation practice |
18:30 | 19:30 | Dinner |
19:30 | 21:30 | Self study |
And to graduate we had to do 108 Surya Namaskar at sunrise. And we set the record of 35 minutes 🙂
Hiked to 4610m in Lantang
Dream 2 followed to hike in the Himalayas and to set my new personal highest of 4610m. It wasn’t so difficult and I didn’t experience any symptoms of the altitude sickness. Probably because I stayed one night at 3900m 🙂
A good strategy of hiking high is to do not more than 700m climb after 3000m.
The route I chose was hiking from Dhunche (2030m) – Sing Gompa (3300m) – Laurbina (3900m) – Gosainkunda lakes aka the Frozen lakes (4385m) – the Pass (4610m) – Phedi (3730m) – Thadepadi (3600m) – Melamchi Gaon (2600m).
Lantang valley is really nice and you can see many peaks 7 and 8 thousand meters like Lantang, Makalu, Anapurna, Ganesh, and even Everest in clear weather.
I was able to see a wild goat, reindeer, weasel, pheasant 🙂 Good I didn’t meet the bears or the tigers.
And I hated the bus ride – horrible and scary, I thought we gonna fall from the terraced rice hills. We even got stuck on a wooden!? bridge. I had pain in my arms from holding to the seat. So a tip from me – always sit behind the driver, it’s the safest and not so bumpy place!
Danebad!
